Week eight - post three

Michigan State upsets UConn; heads to title game
No. 2 seed Michigan State defeated No. 1 seed UConn 82-73 Saturday night in Detroit.

Spartan Travis Walton said the team hoped to bring some good luck to their home state, and a win gives the people of Michigan a few more days to celebrate.

It's the Spartans' second appearance in the title game since 2000 when they won their second title. The first was in 1979.

"I hope we were a ray of sunshine, a distraction for [the people of Detroit], a diversion, anything else we can be," said head coach Tom Izzo. "We're not done yet, so hopefully we can continue to make them feel a little better and us feel a lot better."

The Spartans will take on the University of North Carolina in the NCAA title game Monday night.
