week three - post two

No. 3 UNC defeats North Carolina State
The University of North Carolina Tar Heels defeated rivals North Carolina State 89-80 Wednesday night in Chapel Hill, N.C.

With the win, UNC extended its winning streak to 10 games, and N.C. State has now lost 12 of 14 conference road games.

Despite the impressive offensive play, head coach Roy Williams was disappointed with UNC's defense. The team recognizes that in order to play well in NCAA tournament, they have to improve the defense.

"That's one of the first things he said to us, that they shot 64 percent," said junior guard Wayne Ellington. "They shot way too high a percentage on us. We outscored them. But when we're getting into games where teams are just as gifted offensively and can score right with us, we're not going to win those games. We've got to get teams' percentages down."

UNC leads the ACC with a 24-2 overall record.
